Unlimited SMS - Android configuration
Welcome! This guide will walk you through the complete process of setting up your Unlimited SMS service. By using a physical SIM card and an Android device, you can bypass per-text fees and communicate more naturally with your customers directly from your CRM.
Prerequisites
Before you begin the installation, ensure you have the following ready:
- Android Device: A phone running Android 9.0 or above.
- Memory (RAM): A minimum of 2 GB is required, though 4 GB is highly recommended for stable performance.
- Hardware: A working camera to scan the login QR code.
- Active SIM Card: A SIM with an active plan that allows you to send and receive messages.
- Stable Internet: The phone must be connected to 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi at all times to process outgoing messages
Note: We recommend using a dedicated new number rather than your primary business line. This protects your main communication channels from being flagged by carriers if you accidentally exceed sending limits.
Please note your phone installation may be slightly different to the screenshots below depending on make and model of your phone and Android OS
Step 1: Update Device Details
To help our team identify and connect your device to the correct account, please label your SIM:
- Open Settings on your Android phone.
- Navigate to SIM Card & Mobile Data (or "Connection" settings depending on your model).
- Update the SIM details to your Business Name and Phone Number.

Step 2: Install the SMS Gateway App
Follow these steps carefully to ensure the app functions correctly in the background:
- Download: Open Chrome on your Android device and go to:
https://get.mysmsgateway.app. - Install: when prompted to install, click Install

- Permissions: During installation, you must select "Allow" for ALL permissions, including the request to run in the background.
- Allow SMS Gateway to make a managed phone calls : Select “Allow”
- Allow SMS Gateway to send and view SMS messages : Select “Allow"
- Let app always run in the background : Select ”Allow”

- Default SMS App: When prompted, select "No" or "Cancel" when asked to make our app the default SMS provider.

- Login: Select "Sign in with QR code" and scan the code below.

- Start: Press the Red Play Button at the bottom right to begin the service.

- Battery Optimization: Long-press the app icon > select App Info > Battery Settings > set to Unrestricted. This prevents the phone from "killing" the app to save power.
Step 3: Disable RCS Messaging
For the highest reliability, we recommend turning off RCS (Rich Communication Services):
- Open the Google Messages app.
- Tap your Profile Picture in the top right.
- Go to Messages settings > RCS chats. See further details here if required
- Toggle RCS chats to OFF.
Step 4: Final Activation
Once the app is running on your phone, our team needs to link it to your CRM dashboard:
- Open a Support Ticket: Send us your Business Name and the Phone Number associated with the SIM.
- Confirmation: Our team will attach the SIM to your sub-account. We will notify you once the connection is live.
Best Practices & Troubleshooting
To keep your service running smoothly and avoid having your SIM blocked by your carrier:
- Avoid "Send Anxiety": You can send unlimited messages, but carriers monitor speed. Send no more than 1 SMS per minute.
- Drip Mode: Always use Drip Mode in your CRM when sending messages to a large group to mimic human behavior.
- Stay Powered: Keep the phone plugged into power and ensure it stays connected to the internet. If the phone goes offline, messages will queue but won't send until it reconnects.
- Silent Mode is OK: You can silence the phone or use "Do Not Disturb" so you aren't interrupted by alerts, as long as the internet remains active.
